Cheaper Drugs Forecast for the NHS

AstraZeneca has released its Fourth quarter and full year results for 2012.

Our initial investigation shows decreasing sales, partly driven by the expiry of patents on its best selling drugs. A full copy of the results can be viewed at:

Whilst this may not be good news for one of the worlds biggest medicine manufacturers, possibly resulting in jobs losses, it is good news for Britain's NHS.

Due the expiry of AstraZeneca patents, the market is opening up for cheaper generic brands to be manufactured; allowing the NHS to purchase medicines at a cheaper price.

So whilst this is not good news for business and investors, it is good news for the NHS.

  1. Drugs aren't always the answer. The NHS should look into alternatives nethods of pain relief such as pet stroking, tickling and distraction.
