William Hartnell
I've no idea what this one was like, before my time...
Patrick Troughton
As the Second Doctor, Patrick Troughton was the first re-incarnation, and ironically, the first Doctor Who to die.
Jon Pertwee
For some the definitive Doctor Who, for others the precursor for Wurzell Gummidge.
Tom Baker
Arguably this is where the rot set in.
Peter Davison
Encouraged by his success in All Creatures Great and Small, Davison risked his career against the curse of Doctor Who.... And it didn't pay off. Now known as the father of David Tennant's wife.
Colin Baker
The worst Doctor Who ever.
Sylvester McCoy
Previously a side kick in Vision On, McCoy could do nothing to save the busted brand.
Paul McGann
Christopher Eccleston
Mis cast or a work of genius? You decide.David Tennant
My children's favourite, but what do they know.Matt Smith
The first Doctor Who to truly look like an Alien.
I need a doctor, I'm sick...
ReplyDeleteBut which one?
DeleteDr Scratchy but he's not taking anyone on, pity. Guess I'll just have to bloody well suffer all alone.
DeletePS thanks for all the concern!!!! I've been ill and unable to stalk 'my man' and not a word of worry whilst I've been away from this site. Ok, so I have no friends but I do have.....an itch to scratch, hence said illness....hmmm
Deleteof course I am concerned but with half term, I have spent some quality time with my son trolll hunting. Now we are relaxing by watching a comedy, the England.match!
DeleteI'm not very good at showing sympathy to the sick. I try my best but it usually turns into "sometimes just need to get over it" which makes them upset, so I try to avoid saying anything and make cups of honey and lemon instead. I also find a mixture of honey, lemon, ginger wine, whiskey and warm water helps most ailments, even if you're not actually ill.
DeleteI'm never ill. When I die, I expect the look on my face will be a mixture of surprise and disappointment.
Not a good admission considering your a nurse
DeleteTom baker was brilliant, after that the rot set in. Ecclestone was a good choice to attract the youngsters and bring some humour into it.
ReplyDeleteP.s William Hartnell was to stiff and pompous -like an old schoolteacher
DeleteI remember Hartnell describing Pertwee and Troughton as 'The Dandy and the Clown' respectively.
DeleteThe first Doctor Who I remember was Pertwee, and so I was biassed against Tom Baker, whom I found creepy.
I also liked Sylvester McCoy, but the whole series had rather gone off the boil by his time.
Yes, Letters was my first, but I watched Hartnell and Troughton on.VHS/DVD. Under Tom Baker the plots just got tired and they thought changing Dr. was the answer, it wasn't. I think McCoy brought some sparkle back, but they lost their core audience -lids went onto Grants Hill.
DeleteDo you know, I spent ages on this article, but it doesn't show!
ReplyDeleteColin Baker was,is and always will be a complete cock. The "Dandy and the Clown" was scripted in a 3 Doctors special, Matt Smith is a talentless fool doing a bad David Tennant impression. Where is the true second Doctor, Peter Cushing?
ReplyDeleteThat's typical of the leftie state controlled businesses in this country. Some would assume they made a schoolboy error by omitting this great actor from their list but in reality they try and miss inform the citizens of this great Anglo-Saxon land.
DeleteWhilst the great US Republican party props this wonderful green and pleasent land from collapsing on its knees, the socialist bully boys try and hide the right wing support provided by our cousins and portray that it is Neu Leibours open door immigration policy that is performing this heroic deed.
Well no more I say, the pleasent and green citizens of this immaculate empire must know the truth! Have I mentioned immigration and nanny state pilitics yet....
The Cushing movies are considered non canonical, anyway this is a vote for the worst Doctor and I don't think he was.
DeletePeter Cushing was a human scientist not an Alien Time Lord, as such he was a pretender
DeleteThank you Scratching, I had forgotten that the cinematic doctor was not a Time Lord. A far more considered answer than Mr Chough's rather glib "considered non canonical". Indeed I feel this whole piece has missed the point, everyone knows Colin Baker was the worst Who, I think the question should be who is the second worst.
DeleteWell I am sorry if people don't know what non canonical means. It's a standard term in nerdy discussions about scifi.
DeleteOk then. How about we all rate the Doctor Who's in order, then we can argue about our choices. Here's mine.
