Trinity Mirror is reeling today at the runaway success that is the Moanchester Evening Views. Its new rival, which has copied its business model of publishing half-researched stories based on anything it finds on Twitter, or hears on the proper news that morning has scored an outstanding 1942 hits since its launch last Wednesday, or was it Thursday?
Said publisher Mr Chough "I am amazed by how easy it is to create news stories simply by searching Twitter and putting a map on the bottom of the page. Some naysayers have said all the posts are me, under different aliases, but this is only partially true."
The Moanchester Evening Views has had rave reviews from real journalists, and some of its stories are even being re-posted as real news.
Specialising in stories about dog fouling, recipies and anecdotes about childhood traumas, the Moanchester Evening Views is set to overtake its shoddy rival as the main source of news about Manchester.

Are the MEN hiding the truth about the drop in the number of members of its online community?
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I noticed two, yes two, of my posts printed. I have never had two printed in one edition of the paper ever!!!
However the MEN disguised the fact it was from one poster, reporting one from Peter Pann and the other from PP (which I take exception to as I did not want to peepee at that time.)
If the MEN are miss-leading readers on this, what else are they not telling us?
Can they be trusted to give impartial news that actually occured?
Makes you wonder why they don't get their journalists to make up fake posts. Oops giving away trade secrets now.
DeleteA man I used to work with said his friend worked on a red top daily, making up the "Dear Dreary" letters. Well it stands to reason, that no-one in their right mind who found themself in a tricky predicament would seek advice from a tabloid journalist? And by hoping to chance that their letter gets printed, and that no-one recognises themself if they were to read it?
DeleteIf Moanchester Evening Views had a problem page, we'd leave them behind in the dust. I'll get making some up.
DeleteI think that when they started doing them as photo stories in the tabloids they rather gave the game away though.
Once again, MEN shows it is short of contributors to its online community, another comment by Peter Pann today.
ReplyDeleteIn a move which I believe they are trying to get their numbers up, a story in todays edition to lure the racists back...
this site is fab and so funny!
DeleteI saw that story, and your post. I said earlier this week that I missed the crazies, but reading that story reminded me how depressing they really are.
