BBC Axes Archers Message Board

In a chilling parallel to the MEN's recent axing of comment on its news stories, the BBC has announced it is axing the Archers Message Board, which hosts a community of 10,000 people who follow the radio soap about country life.

The community, which is described by the BBC as "a rich, witty and fun space for fans" is left reeling with no-where to post their ramblings on matters as diverse as how annoying Linda Snell is, to whether having young people in the soap spoils it.

"The annual village fete storyline will not be the same if we can't post inane comments," said one regular contributor.

"I feel like I've got my life back," said another.
